Matt Shakeshaft Participating in the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Cycle Ride

Matt Shakeshaft, our Financial Management Accountant, will be participating in the 96km London to Brighton cycle ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation on the 17th June this year.

Matt will start his epic 96km journey from Clapham Common, but before ending his journey in Brighton, Matt must first encounter the dreaded ‘Ditchling Beacon’ which at 248 metres above sea-level, Ditchling Beacon is the highest point in East Sussex, which will be a challenge in itself.

This will be the second time for Matt doing this bike ride, the first time being when he was only 15 riding a five-speed racing bike with a buckled back wheel and a plastic saddle! Yet, some 7.5 hours and the dreaded Ditchling Beacon hill later, he completed his challenge.

Well, here we are, thirty-seven years later, and Matt is back in the saddle for another go, but this time with the advanced bicycle technology and the obligatory Lycra attire!

Matt is hoping to complete his challenge within four hours.  If you would like to sponsor Matt and raise funds for a worthy cause, please click here for Matt’s Just Giving page to make a donation.
