BNP Paribas Real Estate – Chiller Replacement

The existing chillers at Princes Exchange in Leeds were operating at less than 50% capacity and nearing the end of life, impacting the comfort conditions within the building.

We were instrumental in the design, specification, tendering and project management for new 2 air-cooled chillers that were both larger in cooling capacity and more energy efficient.

Challenge

Energy & Technical Services was able to source new chillers which provided the required increased cooling capacity and were small enough to be installed in the confined location of the existing equipment. To minimise the disruption caused by necessary road closures, works were completed on the weekend at midnight, within a 6-hour time frame.

Added Value / Achievements

Since installation, comfort conditions have been restored throughout the building. The new chillers are not only operationally superior but also have an added benefit of being more energy efficient, providing further savings for the client.
