Homebase – Multi-site LED Lighting Upgrade

Energy & Technical Services was appointed by Homebase to project manage Phase 1 of the LED lighting upgrade for 79 stores across the UK and Ireland. The stores selected were identified as ‘Priority 1’ – sites with lighting failures.

The inefficient and aging F-Gas screw packs and associated condensers were replaced with new scroll pack internal units with external air-cooled condensers, F&R pipework and controls.

Challenge

Shortly after the project commenced, the programme of works was escalated to ensure all stores were completed within 3 months instead of 5.

Early stakeholder engagement was essential to ensuring works were completed on time without impacting on trade. Working collaboratively with client representatives, Contractors, Suppliers and Store Managers allowed us to work flexibly to meet project critical deadlines.

Added Value / Achievements

Our team of Data Analysts worked with the wider team to ensure the project deliverables were met. Collating energy data and monitoring performance at the various stages of the project lifecycle, our Technical Energy Centre calculated and identified energy savings delivered against each store which were presented to the client. Additional cost control measures ensured the project remained within budget and achieved a cost reduction of £0.5m.

Midcounties Co-Operative – Solar Panel Installation Assessment

This project aimed to understand how solar PV installation will benefit the client long term. We have identified the yield and efficiency of solar PV and what the cost of repurposing a number of solar PV panels that were in storage specifically for Co-op. This developed into a compatibility study for solar panel installation across 44 sites.

Date Palm Developments – Complete Building Solutions

Date Palm Developments (DPD) approached ETS to design, install, and commission a new Building Management System (BMS) for their proposed "Ottons Lab." Given the complex nature of the facility, which specialises in plant cloning, highly detailed designs relating to HVAC controls and operational security were necessary to maintain optimal conditions for both plant growth and occupant comfort in the office areas.

BNP Paribas – Simulated Power Failure

The power test was successful with back-up power supplies, fire alarms, emergency lighting, pedestrian access systems all operating as expected during power failure. All equipment operated correctly and efficiently when power was reinstated.
